Payday loans: How to save money while traveling

We often dream of having a luxurious and glamorous travel experience. But that is not always the case. Traveling can get stressful especially when you are tight on the budget. But that doesn’t mean that you cannot go travel the world and enjoy yourself. Leaving your best life is all about being street smart financially. Here are some tips on how you can save money for payday loans while you are on the road.

Travel in the Off-Season

While January is generally one of the cheapest months to travel, also consider the low season for your particular destination. That doesn’t mean just going to Costa Rica during the rainy months or the Jersey Shore when everything is boarded up. But if you’re considering a ski trip to Vermont, try for mud season—that sweet spot just after the peak powder season, but before the lush summer hiking weather begins. Or try for destinations south of the equator during their winter, when the climate might be cooler and damper—and thus, tickets will be cheaper.

Look for free activities

If you do a little research, you’ll see there are often lots of free activities in the area. Look at community calendars to see what is going on in town while you are there. Do a self-guided walking tour to familiarize yourself with your destination. Museums often have a ‘pay what you can’ day once a week and sometimes have discounted admission after a certain time of day.

Join A Solo Travel Group

Hang onto the savings of group travel, but leave the logistics to the professionals by searching for tour companies with a focus on attracting solo travelers. Travendly connects fellow young professionals in your hometown, while Flashpack caters to 30 to 45 year olds, and Eldertreks focuses on those 50 and up. Small group specialist Intrepid Travel offers solo-only departures, but say that more than half of the customers on their regular tours are single travelers. On these tours, you’ll meet fellow travelers to share expenses with. For example, the bulk of my group on a G Adventures Morocco trip stayed an extra day—so we ended up sharing cabs and guiding ourselves on a tour of Marrakech.

Create a budget and stick to it

Know when to save and when to splurge. We always eat at a nice restaurant on our last night of vacation. Look for ways to save money but also treat yourself during the trip. Having a budget is a wonderful way to keep yourself on track.

Go Directly to the Airline Website

Once you have looked at all the flight search websites and found the cheapest price, as a LAST resort go direct to that airlines own website. Many of the airlines have lower fares that you can only get when you book online at their site, or buy an e-ticket.

Find a Roommate

Teaming up with another traveler on your schedule, especially to split the cost of lodging, can chop the budget immensely. Sites like TravBuddy, TravelChum, and CruiseMates can pair you up with other travelers heading to the same destination on your timeline.

Work Abroad

Headed to a new career? Working while on abroad might do the trick for you. It’s a surefire way to earn cash while you are on the go. If you’re a person under the age of 26, there is a program through the E.U. and the U.S. government that allows you to work legally in Europe. You have to get the job yourself, but this way you can work and travel all over Europe.
